Project Supervisor

In this leadership role, as part of the Corporate Support Services Command and reporting directly to the Manager, Facilities Management, you will be responsible for overseeing and delivering full facility management solutions including supervising, safety compliance, control, design and development of all projects to ensure compliance with Service Standards and requirements, and client relationship.

You will be responsible for multiple and simultaneous projects with competing priorities deliverables and deadlines and you will be responsible for the planning, developing, implementation, execution and closure of each project. You will ensure that you will report on assigned projects ensuring that they remain within scope, schedule and budget, and in line with corporate procedural boundaries. Typically, projects, renovation projects, installations and/or new construction projects, undertaken by you, will be of high complexity and dollar value.

As the Project Supervisor you will:


  • Contribute into the development of a Master Plan for a five-year Capital Program and Budget for Toronto Police Service (TPS) facilities
  • Investigate and resolve all facility or service-related problems in all Service facilities
  • Responsible for the preparation of cost estimates, budget development, monitoring all project expenditures and approving all invoices for each project.
  • Develop and approve schedules for the of all Service facilities projects.
  • Develop relocation plans for Service personnel, furniture and equipment. Coordinate and supervise the relocation of Units to new or renovated facilities.
  • Develop drawings and schedules for the installation of computers, telephones, furniture, equipment and security systems in all Service facilities.
  • Develop tender documents and evaluate tendered bids as well as recommend approved contractors, suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Ensure that building operations, maintenance and operating procedures conducted by vendors, contractors and the City of Toronto are in line with established service level agreements.
  • Coordinate access and opportunity for the City, vendors and contractors to perform maintenance, renovations and coordination or work.
  • Ensures the all drawings are up to date with the use of AutoCAD



Client Relationship Management:


  • Develop and maintain an effective working relationship with members of all Service ranks, officials from the City of Toronto, consultants, architects, engineers, and contractors.
  • Acts as a liaison between representatives of the City of Toronto and the Service.



Key Qualifications


  • A three-year College or University degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Interior Design, Facility Management or a related discipline combined with a minimum of five (5) years recent industry experience in industrial/institutional/commercial construction projects or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. You will be required to bring and discuss samples of previous work i.e. technical drawings, scope of project documentation, etc.

  • PMP, FMP, CFM, designations are considered an asset.

Job Specific:

  • Working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, (OBC), and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and other related codes, guidelines and regulations.
  • Experience and working knowledge of, construction management processes.
  • Experience implementing all aspects of the project management principles.
  • Experience with MS Project to create and track project progress and develop and create schematic design and space plans with the use of AutoCAD
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Occupational Health and Safety (O.H.S.A.) and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (W.H.M.I.S.) training would be an asset.

    Must be willing to attend job-related courses and workshops to upgrade knowledge and skills.

Communication/Project Management:

  • Excellent project management, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to work in a fast pace, high demand environment to meet tight timelines
  • Strong analytical and effective problem solving skills
  • Highly developed skills in building and maintaining partnerships, both internally and externally
  • Must have a “Class G” Drivers’ Licence and capable of obtaining a Toronto Police Service “Blue Card”.
