About the Behavioral Insights Team

The Behavioral Insights Team (BIT) is a leading social impact consulting organization bringing evidence-based policymaking to governments and nonprofits across the world. We believe that if you understand how people make decisions in the real world, you can design and deliver better policies and services.

BIT was created inside the UK government in 2010 as the first government organization dedicated to applying behavioral science to policy and programs. Indeed, we created the term “behavioral insights.” We became a separate social purpose company in 2014; in 2015, we opened our North America office and work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment in Brooklyn, NY.

About the Role: Resourcing Manager

The Resourcing Manager is a new position and will be the main point person for the organization of our US operations. You will be engaged in a number of tasks to support the successful delivery of our consulting engagements. You will need to be flexible in your approach and be able to juggle competing priorities.

This role will transform greatly over the first year, initially supporting the roll-out of a new ERP system and managing three project coordinators. Specific responsibilities include:

Resource Management

  • Working with project leads to ensure resource plans are set up in the planning software and maintained;
  • Identifying members of the team who can work on potential pipeline projects;
  • Highlighting where members of the team are either over or under-resourced and working with project leads to identify solutions;
  • Tracking milestones and timelines across projects and instituting necessary workflow, personnel, and financial resource allocations;
  • Identifying and solving complex business problems utilizing analysis of situations and/or data.

Pipeline Tracking

  • Working with the Directors and other team leads to maintain accurate records of all potential projects in the pipeline on the company’s central pipeline tracker list;
  • Monitoring opportunities for business development (e.g. new project tenders);
  • Supporting the team to develop bids and proposals for new work.

Training & Implementation

  • Working with functional areas to understand business processes and aid users in becoming more efficient and effective in using ERP and associated systems;
  • Partnering with business liaisons, technical teams, and key strategic ERP solutions partners to help develop the vision of the technology service and to define system goals;
  • Providing strategic, expert advice and consultation on the design and implementation of business processes, that include process analysis, redesign, and organizational effectiveness.

Requirements

What you’ll need

  • 5+ years of professional experience in a resources management role with progressively more complex responsibilities and accountabilities.
  • An analytical approach to the work. You monitor traction and then anchor your creativity in what the data shows.
  • Emotional intelligence. You’re able to build strong relationships that inspire openness and trust. You are able to build and manage a team of project coordinators and project managers.
  • Able to navigate in a changing environment, drive continuous improvement and commitment to innovation.
  • While you don’t need to be PMP certified, it should be a certification you are familiar with and would be excited to complete.

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • A Strong Project Manager. You have a keen ability to organize a work-plan and execute against deadlines; appropriately seeking input from team members.
  • A Mobilizer: You have that rare mix of vision and tactics that make other leaders admire you. You’ve managed multiple teams on a range of different projects, but you’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves and get in the trenches yourself.
  • A Strategic Decision Maker. You thrive in a rapid growth environment where you can press forward quickly with big ideas, though you understand this often requires recognizing when it is required to take a step back and create proactive strategic plans that empower your team members.
  • Personally committed to inclusion. You’re always asking: “whose voice is not at the table?” You have experience working with diverse teams and successfully navigating cross-culturally.
