Scrum Master- Global Software Organization

The primary responsibilities of the scrum master are to serve the team and project lead in delivering working software, tracking progress, and helping the team achieve their commitments. The SM will be responsible for coaching the scrum team to self-organize and create high-value products and remove impediments to the Teams progress. The Scrum Master will facilitate all agile ceremonies and support the team in following the Scrum framework. The Scrum Master will coach on writing user stories, acceptance criteria and testing.


What you will do:

  • Providing all support to the team using a servant leadership style, acting as a steward for organizational change to personify Scrum and Agile methodology for the GSO (Global Software Organization)
  • Guide and coach team(s) on how to use Agile/Scrum practices & values.
  • Ensure the team(s) are exercising the appropriate level of planning to meet project specific goals and timelines, while focusing on delivery of value; organize and lead status and working sessions, prepare and distribute progress reports; manage risks and issues; aid the team in correcting deviations from plans or pivots when needed.
  • Lead the scrum team in using Agile methodology and scrum practices
  • Promote empowerment of the team(s) and assist in team development while holding team(s) accountable for their commitments, and mentor/coach team members on effective Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Assist and motivate to form self-organizing teams
  • Help the scrum team achieve higher levels of scrum maturity
  • Ensure that each team member is fully engaged and making a meaningful contribution.
  • Facilitate getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work. Facilitate discussions, decision making, and conflict resolution
  • Remove impediments and coach the scrum team on removing impediments
  • Collaborate with the team in scheduling work, including defect remediation and refactoring, guarding against the accumulation of technical debt.
  • Partner with the leadership in managing expectations for outcomes, stakeholder communications, and working with the scrum team(s).
  • Be able to plan and facilitate the following ceremonies: daily stand-up, backlog grooming, sprint planning, sprint retrospectives,
  • Collaborate closely with project leads: enhancing team communication, improving team morale, ensuring cross-dependencies are known, clarifying the product vision
  • Helping the product owner/project lead and development team to achieve customer satisfaction
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to implement best practices for Agile/Scrum frameworks. Ensure changes and strategies that are generated by scrum retrospectives are implemented.
  • Support the product owner/project lead and provide education/training where needed



  • Excellent skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continuous improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency on project delivery timelines
  • Exceptional people skills. Comfortable working with a diverse group of people and serve as arbitrator when conflicts arise.
  • Knowledge of numerous well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling bugs, Etc.)
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience working with software development teams, with at least 1 year as Scrum Master for a software development team using Agile/Scrum/Kanban principles and practices
  • Experience working with geographically distributed teams working across several time zones
  • Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
  • Ability to determine what is scrum and what is not
  • Knowledgeable in techniques to fill in gaps in the scrum
  • Ability to work with and lead a team
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment
  • Experience with successful Agile techniques
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and mentoring skills
  • Must have experience using Atlassian tools including Jira, Jira Agile, and Confluence to manage backlogs, burndowns, and team collaboration
  • Must be self-motivated, dedicated and have the ability and desire to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment


  • Bachelor's (Preferred)
  • Information Technology/Business Analysis degree or related experience: 5-9 years


Scrum master certification (Scrum Alliance, SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework), or PMP
