Position Description


This is a fully benefited, full-time Harvard University position that has been funded through June, 2025. There is the possibility of renewal, contingent on funding, university priorities and satisfactory job performance.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Partner with business process owners and cross-functional teams to develop an end-to-end understanding of business processes targeted for automation and transform them to improve organizational performance.
  • Identify scope, benefits, constraints, and risks for automation initiatives by analyzing the current state and proposing a future state by building consensus with stakeholders and users.
  • Provide key business analysis artifacts using best practices and tools for the design, development, and implementation of automation projects and programs.
  • Collaborate with RPA (Robotic Process Automation) team to facilitate the design, validation, and operationalization of automated solutions by providing detailed functional requirements.
  • Spearhead change management activities for implementation of new automated processes by acting as a trusted liaison between business and IT.
  • Provide functional expertise for troubleshooting production issues, continuous improvement initiatives and ongoing system maintenance & upgrades.
  • Work closely with project managers, scrum masters, product owners, process owners and RPA vendors to plan, assess, and deliver business critical automation changes.
  • Mentor junior analysts in business process analysis/transformation by sharing industry best practices and techniques on process improvement and establishing standards for analysis, process flows, metrics, use cases, job aids etc.
Working Conditions

Interview and onboarding activity for this position may be conducted via telephone & Zoom video conferencing.

This position will be based in Cambridge, MA. HUIT actively supports hybrid work where business and team needs allow. Additional detail will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered to do business (CA, CT, MA, MD, ME, NH, NY, RI, and VT).

Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum of seven years' post-secondary education or relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills


The following Additional Qualifications are strongly preferred. If you meet some, but not all, you are still encouraged to apply; we value employees with a willingness to learn.

  • 5-7 years of IT experience working in large business transformation projects and supporting process optimization initiatives.

  • Strong customer service focus with the proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with team members, vendors, stakeholders, and management.

  • Proficiency to collaborate across all levels of the organization and ability to work independently, whilst participating fully as a member of the automation team.

  • Effective persuasive communication including the ability to influence SMEs and business stakeholders toward change, automation, and continuous improvement

  • Knowledge of RPA technologies and spectrum of best practices with process automation and operational excellence

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, coupled with a logical, disciplined, and structured approach to documentation and procedures
