Dow Jones is looking for a Senior Director, Program Management to help drive towards the strategic goals for our New Ventures team, ensuring that we expand the brand footprint and build new audiences. The right candidate will apply his/her extensive program management expertise to lead a team of project managers responsible for engaging cross-functional teams to effectively strategize, plan, and execute on programs which contribute to the New Ventures’ vision. This role will also be working closely with the Chief Business Officer and his senior leadership to strategize and prioritize business initiatives, ensuring to provide updates upwards. The [VP/Sr. Dir], Program Management will be involved with projects across the whole department, serving as an integrator connecting teams that may otherwise remain separate. The position will report directly to the Chief Business Officer. 

 

  • Hire, grow, and oversee a team of 5-6 project managers to successfully deliver key initiatives across New Ventures.

  • Establish the PMO organization structure and oversee the staffing and delegation of work to project managers and subject matter experts.

  • Support the team in managing the issues, risks and dependencies required to define mitigation plans and guide the path forward to resolution.

  • Proactively manage and escalate issues to the Chief Business Officer and senior leadership as required; continuously identifies dependencies and project risks.

  • Ensure collaboration and information sharing among workstreams through transparency and effective communication.

  • Define and develop best practices, methodology, processes, and tools to streamline delivery and operations.

  • Provide strategic recommendations to enhance the success of programs/projects.

  • Oversee strategic initiatives/projects as required.

  • Facilitate and maintain relationships with vendors/partners. 

Requirements

  • 10+ years of demonstrated success in managing fast-paced, complex programs with multiple stakeholders and a cross-functional team.

  • Expert-level knowledge of program and change management and methodologies.

  • Ability to coordinate and organize teams around aggressive deliverables.

  • Excellent problem solving, and critical thinking skills.

  • Strong ability to collect and interpret information.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication skills; ability to forge relationships across all levels of the organization.

  • Works effectively in a fast-pace environment with multiple competing deadlines.

  • High-level of creativity, adaptability and persistence to find the best solutions.

  • Ability to mentor, guide and effectively teach expertise to others.

  • Previous experience at a technology or management consulting firm.

  • Knowledge and experience in the Media & Entertainment industry
