This is a fully benefited, full-time Harvard University position that has been funded for two years from date of hire. There is the possibility of renewal, contingent on funding, university priorities and satisfactory job performance.

Reporting to the Associate Director of the Client Services Project Management Office, the Senior IT Project Manager will be responsible for working across three HUIT service areas (Academic Technology, Client Services, and Technology Partner Services) to develop a strategy for HUIT's role in supporting AV technology, including the development of a potential AV service. In carrying out this work, the Senior IT Project Manager will staff and participate on several committees that explore AV strategy, AV standards, and AV support. This position will serve as the convener of HUIT stakeholders, gathering input and documenting processes and plans. The Senior IT Project Manager will work with HUIT finance colleagues to develop any associated cost or chargeback models for any recommended service plans.

This 2-year term role will serve HUIT/CADM but may also include the following areas:
  • Operational/project coordination
  • CIO Council AV effort
  • FAS strategic roadmap coordination

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

As part of the role, the incumbent will be expected to:
  • Convene AV governance/advisory group(s)
  • Partner with VMO on business reviews of AV vendors
  • Participate in FAS Strategic roadmap effort
  • Support CIO Council Academic Technology & AV Strategic Initiative
    • Refresh collection of AV info and standards from schools
  • Help Convene HUIT AV working group
  • Partner with TPS Construction PMs
  • Gain an understanding of the IT environment at Harvard to ensure effective project delivery and facilitation
  • Collaborate with designated project teams with functional representation across HUIT.
  • Serve as a visible resource and support existing partnerships with related University-level groups.

Typical Core Duties:
  • Collect and manage data in support of ongoing data-informed decision-making, and report on progress on a quarterly basis
  • Creating long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines
  • Delegating tasks on the project to employees best positioned to complete them
  • Making effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the project
  • Serving as a point of contact for teams when multiple units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy
  • Communicating with executives or the board to keep the project aligned with their goals
  • Performing quality control on the project throughout development to maintain the standards expected
  • Adjusting schedules and targets on the project as needs or financing for the project change


Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum of five years' post-secondary education or relevant work experience


Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Five years of related experience to include project management and with a focus on AV and Academic tools.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communications skills.
  • Commitment to workplace innovation, building collaborative partnerships; demonstrated ability to prioritize with shifting deadlines; strong organizational and analytical abilities; proficient with Microsoft 365.

Certificates and Licenses
  • PMP or other relevant certification and experience preferred, e.g., Scrum Master

Working Conditions

Interview and onboarding activity for this position may be conducted via telephone & Zoom video conferencing, based on the department's current presence on campus.

HUIT actively supports hybrid work where business and team needs allow.For those interested in remote work this position can be performed remotely. All remote work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered to do business (CT, MA, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI, and VT).

Travel to campus may be necessary based on business needs and the nature of work. Examples include bi-annual, monthly, or quarterly Town Halls, critical business meetings or other work events. There will be times when being on campus is expected and advance notice will be provided. Additional detail will be discussed during the interview process.
