Although the NBME's mission is centered on assessment of physicians, it encompasses the spectrum of health professionals along the continuum of education, training, and practice and includes research in evaluation as well as development of assessment instruments.

The Clinical Skills Evaluation Collaboration (CSEC) is a world leader in assessing the clinical skills of health care professionals. CSEC combines the expertise of the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) and the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME), two of the world's leaders in evaluating the qualifications of physicians and other health care professionals.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Clinical-Skills Evaluation Collaboration (CSEC) is currently seeking a Senior Program Manager (previously posted as a Senior Project Manager) to implement and lead several complex, high priority initiatives encompassing organizational change,  business process excellence and improvement, and digital transformation. This is a high-impact position that requires an individual comfortable with presenting to and frequently communicating with senior executives, internal stakeholders, and staff. The Senior Program Manager will also be expected to provide strategic guidance and management support to CSEC leadership. NOTE:  This position was previously posted as a Senior Project Manager.  If you have already applied to the Senior Project Manager position you will not need to reapply.)

DUTIES

  • Lead the execution of high-impact institutional projects with significant strategic value to the organization's mission. Lead cross-functional teams through all phases, from chartering, kick-off, solution design, implementation, benefit monitoring, to successful closure. Ensure smooth transition of the project deliverables into sustainable routine operation and embedded into ongoing processes.
  • Manage project plan, budget, issues and risks. Keep all team members informed and engaged throughout the project. Facilitate resolution of conflicts and removal of obstacles that will derail successful delivery of the projects. Make sound judgment for proper escalation to project sponsors.
  • Facilitate the identification, redesign and implementation of all necessary project deliverables to achieve target results. Plan, prepare for and facilitate all project meetings efficiently and effectively. Lead team members to complete assigned tasks within specified timelines.
  • Conduct research, process analysis and cost-benefit analysis to identify growth and improvement opportunities. Establish process and project metrics. Validate cost and benefit assumptions with stakeholders, resource managers, and process owners.
  • Coach and mentor team members on project approach and process improvement methodology. Motivate and influence team members to build highly engaged, productive and effective teams.
  • Communicate written and oral project updates and formal recommendations for senior management and governance. Support projects sponsors/owners on all communication regarding the projects. Compile, analyze, coordinate and present data for use by the sponsors. Monitor and control all documentation and deliverables throughout the projects.

 

 

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS

Skills and Abilities:

  • Exceptional organizational dynamics skills and emotional intelligence (self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills).
  • Able to motivate and methodically lead a team to solve problems and achieve desired outcomes. 
  • Strong business acumen. Ability to learn and adapt to change quickly.
  • Familiarity with process improvement methods and lean techniques and tools (e.g. fast cycle improvement methodology) 
  • Comfortable working as a contributing member or as a leader of multiple teams and projects at the same time.
  • Strong analytical and business problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional process and analytic skills utilizing tools and standard methods. 
  • Excellent people, process, communication, facilitation, presentation and interpersonal skills

Experience:  At least 10 years of relevant experience in project portfolio management, process design, and/or change management

Education: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree a plus.

Certification (s): PMI or other project management certifications preferred.
