This position will support applications and systems within HUIT's Administrative Technology Services' Campus Systems portfolio. Campus Systems supports a collection of 15+ business units that are essential to the day-to-day functioning of Harvard University. This position is part of a team responsible for IT services and projects for the Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) and the University's Physical Security Systems. The HUIT-CS team is a talented team of business and technical IT professionals that demonstrate strong technical competency, deliver mission critical systems, and ensure the highest levels of availability, performance, and security for the businesses we serve.
Principal duties and Responsibilities
- Work as a consultant and advisor to business leaders and members of their team in the context of IT project related activities.
- Support all activities related to making the case for projects and identifying the goals and expected business impact of projects.
- Manage scope, budgets, resources, and stakeholders to bring assigned IT projects through all project phases to a successful "go live".
- Follow Project Management best practices to ensure all facets of the projects are completed successfully: discovery, planning and design, user engagement, business analysis, usability/accessibility, information security, test, validation, deployment, etc.
- Ensure successful transition from project to operations, including the planning and delivery of change management activities to ensure the success of the new solution with end-users.
- Provide communication on project status and updates as needed, to the various audiences that need the information.
- Support the management of project budgets.
- Ensure projects meet key HUIT requirements in security, usability, accessibility, etc.
- Be a key contributor to the Multi-Year Technology Plan (MYTP) yearly process.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of seven years' post-secondary education or relevant work experience
Additional Qualifications and SkillsThe following Additional Qualifications are strongly preferred. If you meet some, but not all, you are still encouraged to apply; we value employees with a willingness to learn.
- Experience with Agile practices, and/or PMP certification a plus.
- Experience with SaaS, and cloud-based solutions preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse businesses/industries.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, advanced Excel skills
- Knowledge of information technology applications, processes, software and equipment
- Highly specialized knowledge of a specific technology
- Knowledge of advanced IT project management principles (e.g. Agile) and software
- Demonstrated cross-functional project management experience
- Demonstrated team performance skills, service mindset approach, and the ability to act as a trusted advisor
- Attitude that supports an Agile working environment
Certificates and Licenses
- PMP, ITIL v4 or other relevant certification and experience preferred, e.g., Scrum Master
Working ConditionsInterview and onboarding activity for this position may be conducted via telephone & Zoom video conferencing, based on the department's current presence on campus.
This position will be based in Cambridge, MA.
This position will require the incumbent to be onsite 3-5 days per week. HUIT actively supports hybrid work where business and team needs allow. All remote work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered to do business. (MA, ME, NH, RI, VT). Additional details will be discussed during the interview process.
