One of these Senior Project Leader roles will focus on the Investment Management & Systems Platform, which will most closely align to the Investment Advisory Platform Firm Program. The role requires being able to manage multiple deliverables and project leaders, representing the health of the entire platform as an aggregation of multiple projects, while facilitating all reporting and documentation needs. This platform involves partnering with multiple vendors and integrating with internal trading, portfolio, and oversight of systems and tools.

Another one of the Senior Project Leader roles will focus on working closely with our change management team to compile all change management plans, activities and deliverables for the Client Experience Programs, to ensure the change management work is integrated into the Client Experience Programs critical path, and to oversee the delivery of this work to ensure program efforts and the resulting change are sufficiently addressed. The role requires the ability to oversee multiple deliverables, to work closely with several change leaders, and to represent the health of the change management work as an aggregation of change plans, while facilitating all reporting and documentation needs. Knowledge of the ADKAR change management model is a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leading multiple large and complex scope projects simultaneously, with a high degree of risk, visibility and urgency within a functional area or at times spanning multiple areas, divisions or outside vendors.  These projects routinely carry a high degree of risk.
  • Leading multiple project leaders, project coordinators and/or project team members in completion of large scope projects.
  • Responsible for allocating, onboarding, assigning and oversight of project resources.
  • Providing leadership, development and mentoring to project leaders through modeling of best practices and providing timely feedback.
  • Assisting or taking responsibility for troubled projects.  Possesses the ability to rapidly assess the state of the project, recommend solutions and implement those solutions to get the project back on track.
  • Ability to rapidly learn about a new area in order to lead a project effectively.
  • Driving and recommending improvements in project management and industry "best in class" practices within the firm.
  • Driving business efforts.  This role is the key business contact on the project.
  • Identifying major and detailed project tasks, critical path, contentions and resources to manage the tasks across multiple sub-projects.
  • Ensuring project schedule, scope and quality objectives are met by monitoring, using metrics and controls to measure progress, taking corrective action and escalating issues when necessary.  Assess trade-offs to scope using cost / benefit analysis and make recommendations to senior leaders.
  • Working with other leaders and senior leadership to obtain the necessary resources to achieve project objectives.   Driving the resolution of resource issues/risks.
  • Planning, identifying, analyzing and resolving project issues and risks. 
    Determining and executing prevention and mitigation strategies, as appropriate.
  • Managing requirements elicitation through the use of sub-project leaders.
  • Scheduling and facilitating meetings, communicate progress and develop solutions to meet project goals.  This may be related to a large project with multiple sub-projects.
  • Providing timely communication of relevant data to senior leadership for decision making. 
    Establishing and maintain effective communications and relationships across multiple areas, divisions, outside vendors and project leaders/teams who are working on sub-projects within a project.
  • Leading vendor selection in a project with a large number of vendors.  Managing vendor relationship throughout the life of the project.

Requirements

Qualifications Required in the Job:

  • A bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • MBA or graduate degree preferred.
  • Project management certification (PMP and/or Edward Jones) preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience leading projects with a high level of complexity/integration that includes other projects and project leaders.
  • 5+ years of industry or position-related experience.  Previous experience as a department leader or similar leadership experience preferred. 
  • Experience leading or formally mentoring project team members and project leaders.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of industry processes, systems, procedures and risks related to the project.
  • May represent Edward Jones at industry events.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills; effectively communicates with project team, other project leaders, multiple areas, divisions and outside vendors.  Incorporates effective listening and collaboration skills.
  • Superior presentation skills preferred.
  • Superior organization and coordination skills.
  • Ability to independently identify, prioritize, monitor, communicate, and/or resolve elements that can impact a project.
  • Experience leading project cost / benefit reviews.
