Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Professional Engineer with experience in water resources, stormwater design, stormwater compliance in our Arlington, Virginia or Herndon, Virginia office.

In this role, the successful candidate will lead water resources and stormwater engineering projects related to federal, state, and municipal clients. The candidate will serve in a senior client-focused role leading and managing projects and will be responsible for mentoring junior staff. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8+ years of experience with municipal and federal facility stormwater programs, Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permits, stormwater design, inspections, and monitoring, TMDL planning, and overseeing projects. The candidate should have experience with business development and client relationship management in the DC Metro area. The candidate will work collaboratively with other members of senior staff and/or a project manager and will be responsible for coordination and completion of various project elements.

The candidate will be responsible for:

  • The executing project work, producing high quality deliverables, maintaining project schedules, coordination with clients, and mentoring junior staff. Key responsibilities will include.

  • Preparation of stormwater design and construction documents, inspection checklists, reports, assessments, public education/outreach materials, etc.

  • Provide technical support in the areas of environmental and stormwater management research, field work, stormwater analysis, and stormwater monitoring.

  • Evaluate stormwater programs and project costs.

  • Perform field investigations and GIS data processing to support stormwater program implementation, stormwater site assessments, and pollutant reduction plans.

  • Attend client meetings and coordinate with regulatory agencies.

  • Coordinate with AECOM project team members (and subcontractors when used).

  • Participate in local and regional water resources organizations, as appropriate on behalf of AECOM.

  • Some local travel will be required (Virginia, Maryland, and DC).

  • Occasional travel outside of local area may be required.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS in Civil/Environmental Engineering, or related field with 8+ years related experience.

  • Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required.

  • Professional Engineers license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience developing strategies and planning documents related to stormwater management.

  • Perform hydraulic analysis, drainage and grading design, specification writing, prepare design documents and report preparation10 + Year of related experience.

  • NPDES/TMDL/Water Quality experience.

  • Watershed modeling and management experience.

  • Experience and confidence to work independently to produce high quality deliverables on time and on budget.

  • Experience with business development and client relationship management.

  • Ability to interact appropriately with regulatory personnel and clients for routine tasks
