This individual reports to the Sr Manager, Marketing (Personal Loans) and the team is seeking an enthusiastic and strategic lead/project manager to drive Discover Personal Loans growth in SEO, from both the technical/UX and Content perspective. Key goals for this role include, but are not limited to, continued growth in organic search traffic, steady, substantial improvement in search rankings and improved online conversions derived from website optimizations. This role will also be a thoughtful and articulate advocate for SEO and Content best practices across the department as well as a cross-functional collaborator across the company to facilitate SEO progress. They will ensure projects are executed with SEO and Content best practices, both technical and non-technical, and champion and implement a strategy to achieve a greater, sustained presence in search.

Our Lead (SEO, Digital and Content) will have creative as well as data-driven ideas to accelerate progress, and both content and technical strategies to help move the needle. This is an exciting opportunity to help catapult this thriving brand and business into greater visibility in search with improved digital user experience and content development, resulting in increased organic traffic and conversions.

This role is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and optimization of content marketing for the company's website. Partners with management, agency partners, and internal stakeholders to design, develop, and project manage content marketing initiatives. Optimizes search engines, content engagement, and the implementation of digital marketing and analytical tools.


  • Supports the implementation and optimization of content marketing for the company's website. Optimizes search engines, content engagement, and the implementation of digital marketing and analytical tools. Own and execute on the SEO roadmap for on-page and off-page SEO.
  • Manages website and content marketing projects from inception to implementation. Leads detailed business requirements that will drive development, testing, deployment, and ongoing measurement of initiatives.
  • Measures website performance, including organic search performance and engagement with website content, tools, and resources.
  • Identify new SEO growth opportunities. Utilizes baseline industry, competitive, search and customer research to support comprehensive and compelling business cases for new content or enhancements to existing content, tools, and resources.
  • Partners with agencies and consultants to deliver cost-effective digital marketing strategies.
  • Validates billing to ensure accuracy.

Minimum Qualifications

At a minimum, here's what we need from you:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Digital Marketing, or Information Technology
  • 4+ years of Marketing, Digital Marketing, Information Technology, Search Engine Optimization
  • In lieu of a degree, 6+ years of experience in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Information Technology, Search Engine Optimization

Preferred Qualifications

If we had our say, we'd also look for:

  • 5+ years of experience in SEO and Content with demonstrable results, and/or related experience in digital marketing, content marketing, user experience, or paid search
  • Solid understanding of SEO best practices and front-end coding techniques including HTML, CSS and Javascript for SEO implementation
  • Expertise with traffic and analytics tools such as Omniture SiteCat, Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEO Clarity, HRefs, BrightEdge, SEMRush, Seachmetrics, ScreamingFrog, Moz, etc.
  • Advanced Excel and Powerpoint skills and ability to shape a story of successes/opportunities based on data
  • Strong project management skills; ability to closely manage plan delivery timeline, internal and external resources, and quality of agency deliverables
  • Excellent communication skills- written and verbal; ability to present verbally to internal management and partner teams, and create effective PowerPoint presentations summarizing recommendations, SEO highlights and deficiencies, data and findings
  • Experience in digital content development techniques and strategies
  • Strong familiarity with Digital User Experience
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities with efficiency
  • Ability to manage partners and agency/external vendors
  • Excellent teamwork and relationship building skills
  • Financial services background
