The Project Manager will join a growing Vertex, Inc. team responsible for defining and executing strategies to integrate additional Vertex Products, Concepts and Frameworks within targeted ERP infrastructures as part of our larger global strategy.  The focus will be on defining and managing work done by third party development partners through the build, deployment and maintenance of products, act as a liaison and champion of this initiative to internal Vertex teams, manage the delivery to internal stakeholders and be available as a SME to all stakeholders including external clients when required. 

Essential job functions and responsibilities:

  • Work with key internal Vertex stakeholders in Product Management to create and execute a strategy for current and future products with targeted ERP Vendors by delivering low cost/high value solutions.

  • Develop, communicate and provide guidance to all key stakeholders (3rd party development partners, Project Managers, Support Representatives and internal Development Resources) on methodologies for developing interfaces to targeted applications efficient and effective as part of our quality assurance efforts.

  • Define, execute and hold others accountable for processes and procedures

  • Develop Test Case in coordination with the testing team.

  • Perform  results analysis

  • Design support channels

  • Promote the adoption of vendor interfaces by assisting with and/or creating content for training materials for internal and external teams.  

  • Participate in sales demos when needed.

  • Provide technical support to partners that are developing integrations into Vertex solutions for their own internal products.

  • Facilitate resolution of customers’ issues by coordinating efforts between Product Support and development, when issues are identified as code related; assisting in testing problem resolution fixes.

  • Facilitate interface problem resolution and escalation process - Provide guidance to Project Managers and Support Representatives to ensure that methodologies are in place to provide seamless interface support for our mutual customers on code related issues.

  • Communicate frequently with partner contacts via phone and e-mail.

  • Assist with the continuing development and documentation of internal processes, procedures and compilation of the online FAQ document as well as standard product documentation.

  • Manage Clients information according to confidentiality policies

  • Document unusual out-of-scope issues both internally & externally.

  • Provide subject matter expertise to Development and support resources, as needed, on Vertex solutions and technologies

  • Assist with the documentation of any ERP changes resulting from releases or functionality changes

  • Provides ongoing Customer support and implementation support to the Vertex support organization and vertex consulting team members

  • Participate in Triage, Production support as required, once issues have been identified as related to code.

  • Lead or participate in other projects or duties as assigned.

  • Occasional travel may be required.

  • Assist in the deployment of Vertex solutions to 3rd party marketplaces as needed.

  • Remain current with ERP releases and changes to any ERP functionality.

  • Understanding the ERP marketplace and customer use of ERP modules.

Requirements

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.

  • Must be able to work under tight monthly deadlines.

  • Strong diplomacy skills are required.

  • Presentation and sales support experience preferred

  • Ability to maintain expected attendance at work.

  • Ability to manage job-related and personal stress effectively.

  • Must manage time and priorities effectively by completing tasks in a timely manner.

 Education and Training: 

  • Four year degree in Business or Computer Science or equivalent education and experience

  • Formal Project Management Training preferred

  • 8 + years of experience including 4+ years with one of the following:

  • Project Management in vendor interface development environments and processes with ERP, procurement or e-commerce systems

  • Vertex or similar tax product knowledge

  • Prior sales & use tax experience strongly desired.

  • Experience onboarding and managing 3rd party vendors preferred

  • Experience successfully servicing medium complex client accounts.

  • Applicable  ERP certifications a plus
