The Project Manager is responsible for a portfolio of sustaining projects.  The role requires someone capable of successfully leading cross-discipline engineering, supply chain, and operations teams to on-time and on-budget project completion in a fast-paced and demanding work environment.

Responsibilities

Typical sustaining projects may include one or more of the following objectives:

  • Improve customer satisfaction by eliminating causes for high-impact product and service delivery failures.
  • Develop or improve business processes to address opportunities or correct deficiencies in current processes
  • Ensure product continuity of current offerings. Manage projects that provide solutions that address component availability issues, reduce leadtimes, and/or address poor supplier capability and reliability.
  • Manage production-location transitions
  • Achieve cost reductions of current product t by managing cost-leveraged design changes.
  • Achieve cost of quality reductions by addressing the cause of specific failures, (scrap, rework, inspection costs, or customer external failure costs.)

Sustaining Project Management

  • Define project scope and priority
  • Identify necessary resources
  • Collaborate with functional managers to allocate appropriate project resources
  • Create project plans and manage resources to ensure project goals are attained.

Measure/Report project status and effectiveness of project execution

  • Make periodic reports to management team on project status
  • Develop, maintain, report measurements of overall effectiveness of sustaining project execution. Consider business impact, resources used, and time-to-resolve issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field.
  • PMP Certification preferred
  • 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager managing sustaining or development projects, preferably at an electronics manufacturing company
  • This position may have 1-2 direct reports.  The ability to communicate performance expectations and monitor and evaluate performance to ensure plans are met is required. This includes the ability to ensure tasks are completed in a timely and quality fashion and the ability to provide specific and meaningful feedback
  • Ability to drive a sense of urgency and commitment within a cross discipline team, solving complex problems and facilitating solutions across department boundaries, and tracking and communicating progress of multiple concurrent project
  • Knowledge of project management methodology (e.g., planning, scheduling, tracking, execution). This includes the ability to effectively use project management tools to carry out the project management function. Executes individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with minimal supervision. Adapts to changes and setbacks in order to manage pressure and meet deadlines. Able to coordinate multiple and competing deadlines simultaneously with multiple project teams without forgoing results
  • Working knowledge of MS Project, Atlassian Confluence, and Atlassian JIRA is preferred
