The successful candidate must possess strong program management competencies in combination with product management/commercialization experience in the CPG/retail space to successfully deliver advanced residential fire safety programs consisting of detection, alarm, wireless connectivity, and voice. The successful candidate will lead the planning and execution of product development projects. This includes facilitating the definition of project scope, goals, and deliverables to support the development of a full project schedule. To support execution, the successful candidate will coordinate both local and remote cross-functional team members to ensure the successful delivery of the product. The successful candidate must be organized, systematic, and capable of sustained and independent work. The successful candidate should be experienced executing under a stage-gate product development process, including products with embedded firmware. Knowledge of Agile development practices and experience within the fire safety industry is a plus.

This position can be located in either Colorado Springs, CO or Mebane, NC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define project deliverables and resource requirements under the organization’s stage-gate product development process and develop full-scale project plans.
  • Manage the development of technical deliverables and milestones across the full range of engineering activities in the areas of mechanical packaging, electronic hardware, and embedded firmware.
  • Manage the full cross-functional product development and launch deliverables and milestones, including but not limited to marketing, supply chain, manufacturing, quality, and compliance.
  • Responsible for defining project resource requirements, coordinate the overall cross-functional development team effort, and provide direction and support to the team.
  • Identify and manage program risks, schedule, communications, and reporting.
  • Ensure quality and completeness of all program deliverables.
  • Successfully lead the program team through all program reviews.
  • Ensure product performance schedule, quality, and financial targets are met.





  • 5+ years experience in new product development.
  • 3+ years experience in project management.
  • 3+ years experience in product management / market launch / commercialization
  • Knowledge of project management techniques and tools.
  • Experience in risk management and change management.
  • Program budgeting and financial management experience, including business case development.
  • Working knowledge of project management software, techniques, and tools, including strong proficiency in Microsoft Project.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver key internal/external program presentations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Experience managing commercial contracts is a plus.

 Education/Certification Requirements:

  • BA/BS Engineering degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Computer Science or Business
  • PMP or PgMP certification preferred
  • Agile/scrum firmware development experience a plus
  • CPG background preferred

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 25%

Pay Range:

$85,500 - $126,000 Annually
