The University of New Mexico's Project ECHO has a unique opportunity for a Strategic Support Manager to join a team who values their employees as much as their mission. You will have the opportunity to oversee our International Projects team by identifying, establishing and cultivating new partnerships and successfully leading the grant development process, including designing the strategy and tactics.

As a Strategic Support Manager, you will be critical to our global COVID-19 efforts. You will lead and collaborate with multiple ongoing international partners, ensuring all deliverables are met for a new large award to create 100 ECHO hubs and train 350,000 health care professionals in Africa, SE Asia, and Latin America. You will play a critical role by:

  • Overseeing the work of the International Projects team that includes many different programs, and creating a system for project management, reporting, and refining strategy as needed throughout the course of each of the projects
  • Overseeing the day to day activity of the International Projects team, including staffing, hiring, and development of team members

Creating objectives and goals for the team to build an energetic working environment to foster innovation and teamwork

  • Working with external ECHO partners in the development and implementation of programs, including needs assessment, curriculum, and instructional design, identification of outcomes, and evaluation plans
  • Interacting with senior management and administrators within ECHO Institute and the broader MetaECHO community to represent and promote the development of COVID-19 hubs and programs using the ECHO model

Overseeing and guiding the International Projects team to work with the Replication team and Virtual Immersion Training team to develop immersion training to support Africa, SE Asia, and Latin America. Assist the teams with presentations of the Immersion training

  • Identify opportunities for potential grants and other funding support
  • Collaborating with the ECHO Institute grants team to write strong proposals for key areas in Africa, SE Asia, and Latin America
  • Working with the Sr Associate Director and other senior leadership to ensure strategic messaging for COVID-19 ECHO efforts across Africa, Asia, and Latin America that can be shared at the local level
  • Identifying and leading strategic relationship development with key stakeholders
  • Guiding program documentation, dissemination, and sustainability efforts
  • Building a strong collaborative environment and overseeing each team to compile reports for each of the programs assigned

This position requires that you work independently, with little supervision teleworking in a fast-paced, complex environment to meet the deliverables of multiple national and international awards. You will be required to travel domestically and internationally with some early, late and occasional weekends.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree Public Health, International Studies or related field
  • Demonstrated expertise with project/program management in a fast-paced, complex environment
  • Demonstrated cultural awareness
  • Prior experience working overseas on development projects
  • Ability to speak and understand French, Spanish or Portuguese
