Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in science and engineering on behalf of national security. We are seeking a Technical Program Manager3/4 to support the maintenance of a programmatic portfolio, including defining and establishing project deliverables with the Program Manager, defining the project’s technical requirements and status of deliverables and interfacing with technical and support organizations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Establish milestones based on customer technical requirements and develop work packages with input from programmatic and line organizations
  • Ensure that project objectives meet the customer's requirements and are safely fulfilled within cost and schedule constraints
  • Maintain project success and report project status to the Group Leader
  • Identify and manage risks associated with the execution of the project

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • 8-12+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience defining work scopes based on requirements, preparing schedules with milestones, creating project budgets, assessing task priority, identifying and managing risks, updating project schedules and managing change control for baseline schedules
  • Experience formulating and presenting results and project information to technical and programmatic customers
  • Demonstrated record of written technical communication, including reports to external customers, publications in peer-reviewed journals, procedure development or research analysis

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Institute Certification
  • Knowledge of the Defense Programs Business Process System requirements to perform Defense Programs nuclear weapons work scopes and/or the Phase 6.X process
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and/or quality control, including knowledge of NAP-24A or NQA-1
  • Experience working in a high-hazard nuclear or explosives facilities
  • Experience utilizing the Earned Value Management System to report project performance
  • Knowledge of regulatory and Laboratory programmatic work requirements
