Job Description

The Technical Project Manager at IBM is responsible for providing overall governance, alignment and visibility in the enablement of technically-driven projects at IBM. With ownership of the roadmap from conception to go-live dates for the of standup/bringup of new or existing IBM Cloud data centers, this position requires high levels of coordination, organization and leadership skills. A quick learner, this Project Manager will ramp up deftly to become familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures related to our technology-driven projects. Managing the relationships with the client teams and all stakeholders, the Project Manager will coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects to be delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.

Core Responsibilities

  • Define project scope and objectives (ensuring resource availability and allocation), involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Meet initially and regularly with peer and project teams to gather detailed ordering briefs and clarify specific requirements of each project
  • Set deadlines, assigns responsibilities and monitors and summarizes the progress of each project
  • Pivot when necessary to make adjustments to project constraints to meet budgetary objectives based on financial analysis
  • Escalate as appropriate to remedy missed deadlines via the implementation of a mitigation plan with involved parties
  • Lead and direct the work of others, while delegating project tasks based on junior/senior staff members individual strengths, skill sets and experience levels
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure adherence to SLAs and other related deliverables

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

In addition to your ability to employ written and verbal communication skills clearly and compellingly at all levels of the organization, you'll need 5+ years' experience with...

  • Driving large-scale technical implementation projects

  • Preparing complex reports for upper management regarding status of project, specifically through a detailed and comprehensive project plan to monitor and track progress and successful completion of short and long-term goals

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (advanced PowerPoint abilities preferred)

  • A proven track record of successfully completing multiple technical projects

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) / PRINCE II certification is a plus
  • Bachelors Degree in appropriate field of study (Preferred NOT Required)
