Technology Project Manager

In anticipation of City Council approval, the City of Oxnard is seeking an experienced Technology Project Manager!


The Technology Project Manager will play a significant role for the city by successfully planning, executing, and finalizing projects according to deadlines and within budget.  This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan.
 
A key project deliverable for the successful candidate will be the Enterprise Resource Planning ("ERP") Project, a complex, multi-year project that will integrate various business operations (e.g. human capital management, financial management, purchasing, asset management, permitting, utility billing, etc.).

The successful candidate will oversee the creation, maintenance and monitoring of the ERP project plan, to include resource management, client/stakeholder management and the financial management of all deliverables.  The selected individual must be an excellent communicator and have a successful track record of collaborating, coordinating and achieving key milestones in an ERP implementation project with stakeholders both internal and external to the organization.

Under general direction from the IT Director, analyzes, designs, plans and implements enterprise-wide technology projects (e.g. ERP); assists with hardware and software research, analysis, recommendations, documents, implements, contracts, maintenance and general support; oversees project design and implementation; and stays abreast of current and future computing needs of the City; performs related duties as required.
 
The Technology Project Manager is the management class responsible for the design, planning and implementation of enterprise-wide technology projects.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience:
 (The following are minimum qualifications necessary for entry into the classification)

Any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for a Technology Project Manager.  A typical way of obtaining the required qualifications is to possess:

Experience
The equivalent of Five (5) years of increasingly responsible related experience in managing enterprise-wide technology projects, and,

Education
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Substitution:  Relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

License/Certificate
Possession of, or ability to obtain a valid, class C California driver's license.

Desirable

  • Three (3)+ successful enterprise-wide technology project implementations.
  • Seven (7) years or more experience in managing and implementing enterprise-wide technology projects (e.g. ERP).
  • Municipal/Public sector client project experience.
  • Certification in project management.
