The J.Warren McClure School of Emerging Communication Technologies seeks a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor for a period of up to three (3) years, starting Spring Semester of the 2019/2020 academic year.

We encourage applications from candidates who combine academic preparation with industry experience in information and communication technology (ICT), including but not limited to IT project management, software management, production management, or operations.

Candidates with either a terminal graduate degree or Master’s degree will be considered for the position. While significant industry or public service experience and/or certification (e.g. PMP) is desirable for all candidates, it is essential for candidates with a master’s degree.

Teaching experience is preferred, and successful candidates should be prepared to teach both in the conventional classroom setting, as well as using alternative teaching technologies to serve our online master’s program.

Candidates for this position should be prepared to teach existing and new undergraduate and graduate courses relating to strategic management, project management, and regulatory compliance relevant to communication technology. Candidates should also be qualified to teach a graduate level data analysis course. Relevant courses include ITS 4440, ITS 6440, ITS 4020, and ITS 5020.

In addition, the candidate is expected to provide service to the School – especially the development of a new degree program in Virtual Reality and Game Design, contribute to the school’s research or consulting agenda, and pursue outside research funding.

The McClure School was founded in 1985, providing an undergraduate program in Information and Telecommunication Systems (ITS); a Master’s degree program was added in 2003. In 2019, the Gaming Research and Immersive Design (GRID) lab became part of the McClure School. The school currently serves about 90 undergraduates and 30 graduate students in both a residential and an on-line version of the ITS programs. The curriculum addresses technology, management, and public policy in the IT sector. The school operates three state-of-the art teaching labs supporting the ITS degrees, the GRID lab game and VR production and teaching labs, and a small back-end datacenter with a production-grade VMWare installation used for both teaching and research. A Network Administrator and a Lab Administrator oversee operation of the labs, assisted by several graduate students. Graduate students also assist faculty as lab assistants and graders.
