We’re seeking a strategic hands-on leader who has demonstrated the ability to drive innovation and create significant change. The VP is the head of the department assigned to the product management portfolio, responsible for training, mentoring and governance over Project Management methodology. 
 

Your Contribution to the Team Includes:
 
PMO Oversight - Drives the adoption and implementation of project and program management methodology. In coordination with business unit leads development of end to end project and program resourcing strategies to ensure optimum support for projects and for the day-to-day operational activities.  Ensure that investments and initiatives in project management are aligned with business strategy and priorities.  Will drive organizational development activities that drive efficiencies within the matrix organization.  Projects will involve assessment of department activities, department deliverable, reporting functions and data analytics. 
 
Resource Allocation - Collaborates with business unit leaders and key functional leaders from across School to develop and manage project and program budgeting and cost estimation approaches, resource allocation, and reallocations.  Manages the project and program resourcing strategies to ensure optimum support for projects and for the day-to-day operational activities. Communicates status of the program portfolio to all stakeholders in business units.
 
 
Demand Management - Ensures adoption and implementation of project and program management methodology and oversees project and program management coaching. Prioritizes programs and projects based on changing functional needs, resource capacity constraints, risk exposure, and interdependencies.  Monitors value metrics to inform decisions that maximize returns across enterprise projects and programs. Monitors the delivery of business objectives and client experience for PMO services.
 
 
Talent Assessment/Development - Drive PMO development and coach Project Managers in fidelity to the approach. Lead efforts to develop a best in class Project Management organization that attracts quality, experienced Project Managers from any industry. Participate in the cultural change to ensure our processes strike the right balance between rigor, replicability, adaptability, and the freedom to innovate. Transformation Initiatives as assigned.
 
 
 
What You’ll Need to be Successful:
 
•Bachelor’s Degree or related advanced degree preferred 
•Advanced level knowledge of project management best practices and methodologies is required 
oPMI, PMBOK, PMP or equivalent certification preferred 
•15+ years progressive Project Management experience, preferable in software & services organization
•Experience building high performing teams by promoting values, ideas and achieving consensus as well as coaching and mentoring
•Firm understanding of how projects and project management fits into overall management practices and processes (e.g. project staffing vs. portfolio vs. company staff)
•Proven ability to develop and enforce quality Project Management practices while improving project management skills, behaviors, & processes
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong negotiation, influencing, and relationship management experience
•Firm understanding of Publishing Industry both print and digital
•Experience leveraging data and analytics to drive internal and customer value
 
Preferred Qualifications/KSA’s
 
•Master’s degree in relevant discipline
•Experience in Agile Methodology
•Background/experience in K-12 education is preferred
•Experience managing a team of 25+ individuals
