Job Description

AECOM is seeking a motivated and experienced Water/Wastewater Conveyance Project Manager to join our expanding water and civil engineering practice in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

The candidate will manage, plan and lead engineering design projects for sanitary sewer collection systems, pumping /lift stations, force mains, and water distribution systems.

Additional responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

Manages portfolio of clients with multiple projects.

  • May supervise mid to junior level engineers (all disciplines applicable), as well as project administration, project controls, scheduling, cost control, estimating and procurement representatives.

  • Responsible for the coordination and completion of projects on time within budget and within scope.

  • Develops a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress

  • Manages changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques

  • Measures project performance using appropriate tools and techniques

  • Manages the relationship with the client and all stakeholders

  • Performs risk management to minimize project risks

  • Consistently delivers profit margins planned.

  • Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team

  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.

  • Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by others.

  • Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.

  • Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.

  • Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.

  • Prepares technical specification sections.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

  • BS Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline

  • 4+ years of related experience with water/wastewater distribution, collection, and treatment projects

  • Professional Engineering License

  • U.S. Citizenship is required (due to the nature of the projects)

  • Must possess a valid drivers license

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Masters Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering a plus

  • 8+ years of progressive experience with municipal water/wastewater conveyance and pumping engineering, design and permitting

  • Professional Engineering License in North Carolina

  • Must have demonstrated time management skills, work ethic and attention to detail

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Must have the ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with technicians, designers, engineers, and other project managers for the preparation of high-quality work products

  • Works collaboratively in teams and independently when necessary

  • Must have the ability to communicate and coordinate with clients, subconsultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public as may be necessary to accomplish assigned objectives

  • Experience designing large diameter pipeline projects
